PreS-Gr 1—These sturdy board books feature cartoon animals, one to a page. On the bottom half, they boast about their special features, and then encourage readers to flip the top half to mix and match other creatures' corresponding parts. In Funny Ears, "Baaa, says the sheep. 'See my ears! They are woolly and soft. Can you find me some different ears?'" Children can chuckle over the sheep's face with ears of a cat, mouse, dog, cow, giraffe, pig, or bunny. Funny Tails is slightly harder to maneuver because of its vertical orientation and the 60/40 split of the page size. The brightly painted illustrations are simple, without backgrounds, encouraging focus on the feats of combining.—Gay Lynn Van Vleck, Henrico County Library, Glen Allen, VA
