Gr 7 Up—Even though British teen Xanthe Jane Greene has read practically every vampire novel published, can recite lore, and pens fan fiction on Fang-Girls.net, nothing prepares her for the moment when she wakes six feet under in a coffin. Luckily, her superhuman vampire strength, along with being partly dug up by her sire before she was chased off, allows her to escape. The 15-year-old returns home to a quirky but supportive family and embarks on a bizarre undead existence that includes an evil vampire Elder, her powerful creator, a hot vampire hunter, a snarky orphan tween, and a romantic Victorian vamp guy all vying for her allegiance. The plot thickens as Jane tries to avoid being killed all over again and to determine whom she can trust. Keeble's entertaining plot contains action and suspense coupled with a witty protagonist and a great cast of secondary characters.
