PreS-Gr 2—Educational songmeister Jack Hartmann is at it again with the 34 songs on this math-based CD. He uses music to teach a variety of concepts and to get kids up and moving. The rousing songs teach counting by 1's, 2's, and 5's; sound patterns; number and spatial ideas; and time concepts including calendar skills. There are also a few songs that focus on fun movement and following directions, including "Valentine's Day Party Dance" and five birthday songs in different music styles. As is typical of Hartmann, these kid-friendly tunes are easy to learn and enjoy. Lyrics for the songs are available on Hartmann's website (jackhartmann.com). The music is peppy and encourages participation. The performer clearly knows his audience and tailors concepts to their needs.
