Gr 3–6—This series is beginning to show its age. Each title describes the origins, evolution, and celebrations of the topic holiday, including familiar and unique celebrations. The revisions and updates are few and fail to incorporate contemporary interpretations or even discuss new types of celebrations. For example, Earth Day doesn't mention climate change and is mostly focused on the dangers of water pollution and garbage. Valentine's Day talks about sending cards but doesn't mention social media communication. The colorfulcovers and photos have been updated but fail to compensate for dated content.
VERDICT Too dated for either new or replacement purchase.
