Gr 5—8—In P. W. Catanese's sequel (2010) to Happenstance Found (2009, both Aladdin), Hap and Lord Umber continue on a number of thrilling adventures full of twists and turns. Listeners who missed the first book in the series will have no problem catching up with these rich characters. Hap is still unsure of his special abilities and uncertain about his origins. But early on in his adventures with Lord Umber, the mystery of Hap's appearance and lack of identity is solved. Before he can digest his newfound knowledge, Hap is swept along on another of Lord Umber's adventures. This time it's to help Umber's former librarian, Casper, who might have information that will help Hap use his special abilities. They also set off for Sarnica in an attempt to rescue dragon eggs that are about to hatch and help the kingdom's oppressed people. Richard Poe's rich narration keeps the adventure moving at a fast clip, and he gives a distinct voice to each of the main characters. A rip-roaring adventure.—Esther Keller, IS 278 Marine Park, Brooklyn, NY
