RedReviewStarGr 4—6—After a cold winter's night, a kitten appeared in the book drop of the Spencer, Iowa, library. Frostbitten, dirty, and hungry, he was immediately adopted by the staff and soon had a place of his own in the library. He also had a name—Dewey Readmore Books. This true story (Little, Brown, 2010) by Vicki Myron and Bret Witter was adapted from their book for adults, Dewey (Grand Central Pub. 2008). Dewey's story is heartwarming and amusing as the cat wins over even the most recalcitrant of patrons. Children will giggle at his antics, delight in his eccentricities, and mourn his eventual passing. Laura Hamilton narrates the chapter book with panache and warmth, her voice and presentation aptly suiting the conversational tone of the text. She creates unique voices for the characters and draws listeners into the story, making it seem as if she is sharing a personal experience. A tender and amusing listening experience.—Teresa Bateman, Brigadoon Elementary, Federal Way, WA
