PreS-Gr 4—After the band Girlyman disbanded, three of the members—Doris Muramatsu, JJ Jones, Nate Borofsky—came together to form the Django Jones band. With lovely three-part harmonies, the band performs 15 songs in pop, rock, bluegrass, and folk musical styles. Terrific performances on guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, bouzouki, piano, organ, synthesizer, glockenspiel, drums, tambourine, and percussion enhance the songs. In addition, the band chats briefly between tracks. The highlight of the album is "Counterpoint," in which each band member sings a different melody and lyrics at the same time, creating a beautiful, harmonious sound, and teaching listeners about musical counterpoint. The other songs include "All That I See," "P-O-P," "Jack of All Things," "Smallest Breed," "Bigfoot," "Potato Leek Soup," and the traditional kundalini yoga mantra "Long Time Sun." This upbeat album is fun for the whole family.—Beverly Wrigglesworth, San Antonio Public Library, TX
