Omens employs a variety of genres, from the upbeat calypso sound on "Hey Hey My Birthday" to the quiet lullaby of "Sleepy Time Bear." Although listeners will find themselves singing along with the catchy lyrics, often the strength and power of Omens's voice doesn't match that of the accompaniment or the group of children singers who provide backup vocals on many of the songs.
