Gr 7 Up—Ryan is a time traveler from the future. He bravely yet recklessly returns to the past to save his love, Eden. In the year 2123, fundamental laws exist that are never meant to be broken. Putting his life on the line, Ryan ultimately decides to break these laws in order to rescue Eden. She holds a valuable secret that is so important that leaders from the future send a cleaner to end her life. This is a captivating love story that spans generations and time periods. The couple think that they are safe and free to live their lives together, but the admirals, who uphold the laws, seek justice. Ryan is arrested and put on trial. If he is found guilty, he could be sentenced to the Lunar colony for the rest of his short, brutish life. With the help of his closest friends, Eden devises a plan to help Ryan escape from his imprisonment. Together, they must figure out a way not only to set Ryan free but also to set the course for their own destinies. This title is slow-moving in the beginning but eventually finds its way. The ending, however, will feel clichéd and overwrought to some readers.
