Car's Life 3: The Royal Heist

PreS-Gr 4—In this takeoff of Pixar's Cars, sports car Sparky dreams of becoming a race car, despite his surly father's objections. Sparky races all day and imagines life in the limelight, so he's very excited when a representative from the Kingdom comes to town to prepare for Queen Limousine's visit. He offers Sparky a job in return for helping him prepare to become a race car. Part of Sparky's job is to guard the queen's jewels, but when he falls asleep after racing all night, the jewels go missing and Sparky must find the thief. There are several side stories, including one about a newly married car couple who are working through some marital problems. While it provides somewhat of a valuable lesson for young viewers, it really has no place in the main plot of the film. Kids interested in cars may enjoy the movie, but the plot is so slow to develop and the animation is so basic that most viewers will be bored.—Jenny Ventling, Greene County Public Library, OH
