K Up–Sweet tooth ready? With more than 50 recipes inspired by the Candy Land board game and favorite characters, this is a title unashamed of sugar. While the title is aimed at young chefs, parents and caregivers will need to assist aspiring chefs. These are made-from-scratch recipes that range from toaster pastries to placing gummies on kabob sticks in skill level. As this is a Candy Land–inspired title, the recipes fall into three categories—breakfast, sweets, and drinks—with entries tied to specific game characters. Even the gingerbread movers have their own recipe! The recipe illustrations echo the more recent Candy Land editions in style. There is no mention of making recipes allergen friendly and little is written about ingredient substitutions, so in that regard this is not a beginners’ cookbook. However, readers will learn along the way, thanks to author Richardson including fun food facts and definitions with most recipes. The title concludes with Princess Lolly’s party and decoration tips.
VERDICT A must-purchase for libraries serving Candy Land players.
