Gr 3–5—Made to order for casual browsing, these volumes gather amazing science facts and wild claims, e.g., "The frogs of Sri Lanka's Bundala National Park like to live in elephant poop!" and a poodle that's "potty trained, knows how to skateboard, and can sort out junk mail and throw it away!" Comical cartoon vignettes are interspersed throughout all four titles, which are randomly divided by subject matter: the human body, animals, pets, and outer space. Children will probably forget what they've just read as soon as the page turns, but, like potato chips, these nuggets of infotainment go down so easily that it's hard to stop.
