Boom Snot Twitty

PreS-Gr 1—A bear, a snail, and a bird, amusingly named Boom, Snot, and Twitty, respectively, are buddies who spend a day together, but they have entirely different outlooks on that experience. With three differing opinions on their course of action, they have three unique voices with opposing plans: "Run!" "Hide!" "Rain!" Renata Liwska's charming illustrations from Doreen Cronin's picture book (Viking, 2014) are skillfully animated by Pixel Pirate, and small children will also enjoy the special effects of lightning and wind howling in the storm. Lilting music sets the mood at the beginning and will lull the little ones to sleep by the story's end. Susie Berneis narrates each animal's voice well, revealing their personalities. Snot is the optimist in the adventure ("Whee!") and steals the show with her joie de vivre. Teachers will appreciate the contrasts of the voices and opinions as they react to the same circumstances.
