PreS-Gr 1–A day in the life of an independent bookstore owned by neighborhood bunnies. All kinds of animals come by to look, explore, attend story times, and buy books to bring home. While their requests are varied, and sometimes unusual, the bookstore bunnies track down just what they need. The story is presented in a loose rhyming pattern. Charming illustrations have an intriguing palette of yellows, blues, and browns that are tropical in nature. Children will enjoy seeing animals doing everything that is typically done by humans in a bookstore. The rhyming is not engaging enough to be terribly effective for sight word development and the story line is only adequate. Still, there is something charming about seeing bunnies working in a bookstore.
VERDICT Not a must-have, but for collections who would benefit from adding more to their body of beginning readers, consider purchasing.
