Baby-Toddler–A wordless picture book depicts a baby boy being comforted and consoled by his sister, parents, and grandmother. Each relative finds various ways to pacify and calm him in a singsong, sweet-toned manner. The beautiful scenes show members of the family bonding with the baby through eye contact, singing, and cuddling; they expose him to the outdoors and show him the moon and clouds in the starry sky. The mother continuously engages with the baby and older child while she creates bubbles with them. A note reveals the author’s inspiration for these pages in her Nigerian upbringing and a song that was sung by her father. The colorful artwork reflects these origins. Adult readers can bring their own family traditions to life while sharing this book with children.
