Gr 9 Up–Rebel Recipes blogger Webster has gathered her recipes into a cookbook for teens wishing to eat vegan. Webster starts her title with an explanation of vegan history and traditions from around the world. For chefs ready to begin cooking, there is a list of what a well-stocked vegan pantry will include. The recipes assume prior kitchen experience and ability. Recipes range from breakfast to family favorites, party, snack, drink, and sweet recipes. These are vibrant foods captured in gorgeous photography. Webster has traveled extensively and showcases international cuisine. Each recipe page has a note in the upper right-hand corner denoting the recipe’s origin. Chefs will experience foods from Europe, Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Australia. One does not feel as if they would be missing out on “the good stuff” by eating vegan. After all, there is a recipe for truffles! The recipes have measurements in cups and weights, allowing chefs to use a scale if they prefer. Recipes also include difficulty rating, prep time, and servings made.
VERDICT A must-purchase for libraries looking to increase teen vegan cookbook collections.
