Gr 2—3—Issued less than a decade ago under different titles (that were packaged with foldout posters and read-aloud CDs to boot), these editions preserve the original illustrations but include rewritten fictional storylines and add a boilerplate opening spread on prehistoric creatures. Also new are three closing spreads of information about the highlighted animal and related topics, such as a look at mammoth-bone huts in Woolly Mammoth. The art in Parasaurolophus is blurry, and in other volumes the dino-figures visibly float over hazed generic prehistoric scenes. The closing indexes, glossaries, and reading lists are perfunctory at best.
