K-Gr 4—This oversize art and alphabet book is stunning to browse and pore over. Each letter is beautifully represented in both its uppercase and lowercase forms by intriguing illustrations and lush design. For example, curved caterpillars nibbling on leaves form the letter B, and snakes circling and hanging from a branch form the letter Q. There is an enormous amount of depth to the illustrations, and the quality watercolor and pencil artwork will be a draw for children of all ages, while younger readers will be eager to explore the book again, relishing every detail.
VERDICT While there is no shortage of artfully done alphabet books, this one would grace any library's shelves and coffee tables.
