Amazing Giant Dinosaurs

Gr 3-4–This oversize, heavy board book has foldout pages that reveal large realistic illustrations of dinosaurs when open, and an assortment of pertinent facts/factoids when closed. While hefty, it contains a mere seven Jurassic/Cretaceous creatures, ranging in size from the modest Euoplocephalus through the larger Corythosaurus to the truly huge Barosaurus. The snippets of data on the folded flaps include physical information, global location maps, diet, an introduction to the paleontologist who first discovered each dino (complete with picture), and an introductory paragraph. This will be a sure hit with young dinophiles (older kids may want a bit more data), but be prepared (be very prepared) to use lots of reinforcing tape on the folds and the binding.–Patricia Manning, formerly at Eastchester Public Library, NY
