PreS-Gr 2—An exploration of habitats for preschoolers. In each book, large font against an uncluttered background highlights a basic narrative. The characteristics of each ecosystem are defined, followed by either various examples (prairies and savannas in Grasslands) or more in-depth traits (hot days and cold nights in Deserts). Colorful photographs accompany the text on the facing page, depicting the landscape or the animal inhabitants. The series is well designed and has a sophisticated feel despite the very simple text.
VERDICT Robust early nonfiction collections may want to consider.
