This book begins with the essentials (sun and warmth, soil and water) as a pair of cats and their friends plant seeds—carrots, peas, lettuce, radishes, onions, daisies, and sunflowers. With digitally created art from watercolor with Adobe Illustrator, a soft palette frames the garden and its surrounding area, while text gently instructs young readers in what is needed to make a garden grow. A secondary conversational message precedes or follows simple text in a larger font, as the cats find their garden hats, a rake, a bucket, and the seeds. Deciding where to plant, placing signs, and plenty of watering—"gentle showers are best"—grow a lovely, peaceful garden.
