This extensive compilation of fingerplays is grouped alphabetically into nine broad sections; within each one, readers will find themes of interest with suggested fingerplays and motions, books, and musical selections. There is a title index to fingerplays with appendixes providing addresses where readers can purchase special props and supplies to augment the production. The unique part of this collection is the DVD, which enhances the experience in three areas. It introduces beginners to a basic preparation outline for a preschool session; secondly, Scott also demonstrates several fingerplays in front of a live, wiggly audience, and, finally, it tours a storytime planner's closet to point out how Scott organizes her realia of puppets, flannel-board pieces, and other props. Unfortunately, the amateurish production simply cuts off abruptly at the end, rather than wrapping up the presentation. Scott's book does not include flannel board patterns as in Kathy MacMillan and Christine Kirker's Storytime Magic (ALA, 2009); nor does it have Spanish-language versions of fingerplays or musical scores as in Elizabeth Cothen Low's Big Book of Animal Rhymes, Fingerplays, and Songs (Libraries Unlimited, 2009). Purchase this one to use as a training unit or to supplement storytime ideas.—Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA
