This overly sentimental ode to poetry is too arcane and haphazard to be inviting, and young readers ready to explore the topic would be better served with titles from Douglas Florian, Paul B. Janeczko, or Jack Prelutsky or by Margaret McNamara's A Poem in Your Pocket.
