I’m back in the Mitten State after watching Kate DiCamillo and Brian Floca collect their Newbery and Caldecott Medals in Las Vegas during the ALA Annual Conference. Good timing, then, for nbcnews.com to run this story about Ms. Dicamillo’s perseverance on the rejection-filled road to publication. A must watch.
The American Library Association Annual Conference is happening this weekend in Las Vegas. I’ll be there taking in the sights and sounds and expelling the perspiration. There will likely be a “Photos from the Conference”-type post at some point, but mostly I’ll be talking and sharing pics on Twitter – click here to find me [...]
UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER The Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals are the oldest and most prestigious of UK children’s book awards. Both winners this year have less-than-happy endings. The Bunker Diary by Kevin Brooks picked up the Carnegie and will soon be available for US readers in spring 2015 – it was just acquired by Carolrhoda Lab. [...]
