Gr 1-3–Lively Cheetah is on assignment for WILD Action News. He spots Warthog, who has a tip for Cheetah about a developing story. It seems that some of the animals are leaving the preserve. Hyena may know more about their exodus, so Cheetah goes in search of the laughing animal. Now it sounds like a party is in the works, but this is disproved. Finally, Cheetah learns that the animals have left to make a watering hole. The animals are drawn with clear, emotive expressions. Readers will get a taste of what it is like to be a reporter searching for credible evidence and interviewing witnesses.
VERDICT This wildly charming series may appeal to reluctant readers and beginning chapter book readers.
