The Crayons haven’t quit yet, and libraries will not want to quit expanding their collections of Daywalt titles with this bite-sized back-to-school send-off.
With all the artistic consistency and charm of their previous collaborations, Daywalt’s and Jeffers’s latest is an engaging read-aloud, a worthy addition to Halloween book displays, and a must-have for any library.
A must-have holiday picture book that’s a perfect pairing for those who have enjoyed the creators’ previous outings. Vibrant, colorful, and full of holiday cheer.
While clearly reminiscent of Mo Willems's work, Daywalt and Tallec's offering captures that sweet spot of humor and accessibility that makes an effective beginning reader. Only the potentially offensive use of a monkey as a protagonist keeps it from being a solid recommendation.
