Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer | 30-Second Booktalk

A super short and handy 30-second booktalk on one of SLJ's Best Books of 2015.
Welcome to the 30-Second Booktalk, a series of videos featuring great (and ultra brief) mini-booktalks to be used by librarians and educators to grab the attention of middle grade readers. This month, we highlight one of SLJ's Best Books of 2015, Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer by Kelly Jones, illustrated by Katie Kath.   Have a great idea for a 30-Second Booktalk? What a wonderful idea! I have students booktalk to their peers, and they often go over 30 seconds! I am going to have them record some to send in!

Thanks, everyone! This was a blast to make. Those of you who know me know my deep appreciation for books with chickens. And thanks, Karen, for the heads up on the proper pronunciation of "Klise." I will never forget that!

Loved the 30 second book talk. By the way, Kate Klise's name is pronounced with a long i, like vise.

I love this title! Great for mid-to upper elementary school ages and I think certain passages would read VERY well aloud!
