The YMA Trivia Smackdown takes place Wednesday, January 13 via Zoom at 7:00 pm ET/4:00 pm PT.

In this free event, test your own knowledge of kid lit trivia and gain insight into past winners of the Newbery and Caldecott Medals, the most prestigious awards in American children’s literature.

And together we can celebrate a most welcome new year and the upcoming 2021 honors, known collectively as the Youth Media Awards. (Look out for this month’s coverage here.)

Both librarians, Bird and Jonker are noted bloggers and have published books of their own. Collection development manager at Evanston (IL) Public Library, Bird blogs at “A Fuse #8 Production.” Her latest book is Wild Things: Acts of Mischief in Children’s Literature, written with Peter Sieruta and Julie Danielson.

An elementary school librarian, Jonker blogs at “100 Scope Notes” and co-produces The Yarn podcast with Colby Sharp. Jonker has also penned a picture book, The Very Last Castle.
