The comedy and color of this picture book will snag the attention of first and second grade readers with high reading skills, but they may feel shortchanged by the experience.
Overall, a very beautiful book. The only drawback is that because it looks like a younger reader’s picture book, some of the great content might not reach the audience that would benefit from the advice. Nevertheless, this is a terrific addition to any library.
An intense, gripping tale of love, loss, and friendship featuring a black youth grappling with his dreams and his identity. Recommended for all middle grade collections.
