Alice in Wonderland: The Official Cookbook

Gr 6 Up–This whimsical cookbook takes readers on a journey through Alice’s adventures in Wonderland. The sections map out her journey chronologically: London, Down the Rabbit Hole, Ocean of Tears, and so forth. Each section features thematic recipes, playful doodles, and plenty of movie stills to set the scene. Though not rated in difficulty, the recipes seem to cover a wide range of abilities, from assembly-based dishes like White Rabbit’s Garden Crudité’ to showstoppers like the Painting the Roses Red Pavlova. When included, the photographs of finished products are beautifully styled and capture the fanciful essence of Wonderland. Unfortunately, many recipes do not have photos of the finished project, which could prove challenging for chefs navigating the more complicated dishes. Back matter includes dietary information, categorizing recipes as gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, or easily adaptable, and a glossary of cooking terms.
