The Internet Second Language Collective or iSLCollective.com is a fine example of an online community of practice that will be an immediate and indispensable hit with your ESL/ELL and perhaps many other of your classroom teacher partners and coaches.  The English section of the site is now well over one million ESL/EFL language teachers strong.  The site is also accessible in German, French, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.

On the About us page, co-founder Peter Laszlo (aka Kisdobos) explains the mission:

We are a community of language teachers from around the globe who share our home-made worksheets on this free-to-use platform! Currently, we host Word doc/docx and ppt/pptx (powerpoint) files. It’s for all language teachers, whether teaching in schools or doing one-on-one private tutoring. The site has 6 platforms for the teaching of English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian.

After signing up for a free account with your email or your Google or Facebook accounts, you get to explore, download and use the wealth of instructional materials in multiple formats.

Searchers can filter results in the areas of grammar, vocabulary, lesson type, level or student type (adults, business/professional, or elementary school) and select additional filters for language exams, dialect, skill, and more.

Materials are further sorted into format categories:

The new iSLCollective Video Quiz Creator allows users to create interactive video lessons using such challenges as filling in the gaps, multiple choice, unscrambling sentences, using the tappable pictionary or  open-ended questions

Most popular downloads become the Worksheet of the Day, Powerpoint of the Day or Video of the Day.

Here are current examples:Screen Shot 2017-11-29 at 2.02.53 PM

ESL Powerpoint of the Day: What can they do? Roulette (An elementary lesson about speaking skills, animal vocabulary and the word can.)
