Ian Is Moving

PreS—Ian is helping his parents pack up all of his things for a move to a new house. He goes from room to room and says good-bye to everything they are leaving behind. Once he arrives at the new house, he is excited to unpack and play on his new swing set. Children will enjoy the brightly colored, large-scaled drawings outlined in black, but the story is a bit too long and rambling. The bold font is distracting and displeasing to the eye in contrast with the softer art. Still, parents looking for a basic story about moving might find this one useful. In Sarah on the Potty, Sarah's mother introduces Sarah to the potty and buys her big-girl underwear, and the girl sits on the seat and explains to her toy sheep what she is doing. While playing, Sarah has an accident but eventually learns how to use the potty, flush the toilet, and wash her hands. This is a short and simple story with brightly colored drawings. Characters are drawn on a large scale with faces that are full of expression.
