Readers seeking literature-related STEAM activities to integrate into a library curriculum will be disappointed to find instead a giant annotated bibliography organized thematically. Chapter 1 examines the reasons for incorporating STEAM into the classroom. A few paragraphs summarize research, followed by annotated citations, which drop off later in the book, leaving only citations. Topics covered include project-based learning, makerspaces, 3D printing, and more. There are also lists of websites and books on growth mind-set. It’s a solid guide for teachers and librarians looking for research titles on a given topic, but educators could also find this information through databases available through local colleges or state consortiums.
VERDICT Not recommended for general professional development collections, but potentially useful for research-heavy collections
