This slim volume offers art projects for elementary students, inspired by the work of illustrators such as Lucy Cousins, Mo Willems, and Kevin Henkes. Each chapter includes a short biography of an illustrator, a summary of one of their stories, their medium (e.g., gouache, watercolor, collage), supplies, and directions, as well as artist websites, ideas, and books for display. Most of the projects are simple and require only basic supplies, although Denise Fleming's technique for making pulp paper involves a bit more skill. Black-and-white copies of book covers and some templates are featured.
VERDICT Useful for new librarians looking for craft ideas to enhance storytime and inspire young artists.
