And ‘one’ thank-you kiss can make somebody’s day.”Adorable cartoon animals including perennial favorites—elephant, penguin, bunny, giraffe, lion, and bear—demonstrate the loving gestures in charming vignettes. The color palette is of calming pastels with several babies’ room variations on pink, blue, and green. Page designs vary, keeping things interesting, as does the rhyming text with a pleasant lilt when read out loud. The things to count are occasionally unconventional, inviting further conversation: arms for hugging, a kiss, friends, stars, colors, food, seedlings, and two eyes for the “precious gift of sight.”
VERDICT A generous board book on gratitude, where counting is a bonus.
