The most effective way to advocate for a school library, and be heard, is to align your goals with your school’s–in a clear and credible way. Libraries can powerfully impact four priorities at the system level–equity and access; curriculum, instruction, and assessment; college and career readiness; and multi-tiered systems of support. But it’s a process that requires continuous evaluation, refinement, and commitment. Bringing in East- and West-Coast perspectives, Priscille Dando and Jonathan Hunt will explore how school librarians can braid equity, literacy, technology, and engagement into a single coherent system to achieve demonstrable academic success for all students.
