How does your school define ‘collaboration' ?

Dictionary.com defines it as:

collaboration (co.lab.or.ey.shun) - noun.

1. the act of working with another or others on a joint project; cooperate

Collaboration between educators, students and parents is essential not only because it may hold the key to each student's success in an increasingly competitive world, but also because it creates a common understanding that fosters innovation and student achievement.

• Why collaboration among educators, students and parents is important and how it can positively impact student achievement.
• How to create a more collaborative environment within your school.
• How technology can positively influence collaboration.
• The positive influence of social media on collaboration.
During this complimentary one-hour webinar, learn how panelists Mark Ray and Wendy Arnold have successfully created collaborative educational environments within their schools and the impact it has had on student achievement.

About the panelists:

Mark Ray serves as teacher librarian and instructional technology facilitator in Vancouver Public Schools. In his nearly 20-year career, he has worked with library patrons from pre-school to graduate school. Most recently, he is working with a strategic partnership in the Pacific Northwest seeking to re-imagine the role of the teacher librarian in 21st century learning environments. In VPS, he has helped forge collaborative partnerships between teacher librarians and both curriculum and IT departments. He also occasionally contributes to his blog, Librarian Provocateur.

Wendy Arnold, Librarian, Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School, Melrose School Department

Wendy Arnold serves as school librarian at the Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School. Her work focuses on deconstructing classroom walls through collaboration and technology, using products like Follett's CogniteTM to build digital project rooms for student collaboration.
