SirsiDynix Releases Symphony e-Library

On August 27, SirsiDynix announce the release of its e-Library OPAC to users of the Symphony 3.2.1 ILS. The revamped product mirrors the user interface of the company’s recently debuted Enterprise faceted search product, and also includes improvements like an updated “My Account” feature, with “a new intuitive interface to engage patrons as they view holds, renew materials, check for library alerts, and complete other interactions,” the company said.
The e-Library product, successor to SirsiDynix’s iBistro, also includes other features such as “new e-commerce options” that allow users to securely manage fees and payments, as well as the ability to customize the look and feel of e-Library with Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Positioned as a direct response to feedback from the library community, SirsiDynix chief technology officer Talin Bingham said the “Symphony e-Library product contains library-requested enhancements and features that will offer an engaging use experience. Future enhancements are in development and promise even greater innovation and flexibility.”
In addition, demonstrating a sensitivity to its customers' impatience for delays, the company highlighted the product’s on-schedule release. According to product manager Jared Oates, “we are especially pleased that SirsiDynix Symphony e-Library included features we promised and released on-time, further underscoring our commitment to serve our customers.”
