Canada’s University of Calgary, Alta., is the latest to sign on as a beta site for Serials Solutions Summon unified discovery service. The vendor announced that BMJ, an international peer-reviewed medical journal and subsidiary of the British Medical Association, also has signed on to Summon.
Thomson Reuters Healthcare and Science unit has released a new version of ScholarOne Manuscripts, which includes the implementation of Cognos, a business intelligence and performance management tool. The new tool will allow users to build custom ad hoc reports, schedule automatically delivered reports, insert report calculations, provide reports on journal publishing metrics to aid strategic decision-making, and more.
BBC Audiobooks America, publisher and distributor of unabridged audiobooks and radio dramatizations, is making its collection available in the United States as downloadable e-audiobooks through NetLibrary, OCLC’s platform for ebooks and e-audiobooks for libraries. The BBC Audiobooks America catalog includes current New York Times best sellers and popular titles like Slumdog Millionaire and classics such as Roots and is the exclusive audio publisher of Agatha Christie’s work in North America.
EBSCO Publishing has released a new resource for corporate sustainability professionals. Sustainability Reference Center™ is a comprehensive full-text database covering all aspects of sustainability, including corporate social responsibility, environmental stewardship, federal, state, and local regulations, “green” issues and initiatives, ISO 14000, and more. The database includes complete coverage of more than 800 journals, monographs, magazines, and trade publications as well as tens of thousands of additional sustainability-focused articles, benchmarks, and best practices, selected from thousands of trade and industry publications.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University Library, BC, has contracted with Relais International for its interlibrary loan (ILL) hosted service. Kwantlen has four campuses located in the Metro Vancouver area, with more than 17,000 students. Kwantlen offers bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates, and citations in over 135 programs. The hosted service will include the Relais Access web-based pages that allow library patrons to create and monitor their own ILL requests. Staff will use a new and enhanced web-based staff interface to process ILL requests. The system includes the fully integrated Relais Scanning Module for seamless electronic delivery of items to patrons and other libraries.
