Here are several practices that could be utilized elsewhere:
Constant Contact provides us with an inexpensive way of quickly distributing our e-newsletter. Each newsletter is design not just to inform our patrons about library sponsored activities, but also to increase awareness of our web site’s resources. A permanent section of each newsletter is a hyper-linked index of our website. Additionally, most e-newsletter articles link to pages in our website. As a result the “visit rate” on our website has dramatically increased.
We have encouraged children to write through our book clubs and summer reading program. Our website features a children’s book review section where kids can post their own book reviews. During programs they earn points for not only reading books, but also writing about them.—Norman Gluckman, Director
