From SLJ March 2005

Veronica Schwartz, Des Plaines (IL) Public Library -- School Library Journal, 03/07/2005

videocassette or DVD. color. 70 min./2 hrs. Prod. by Lyons Group. Dist. by HIT Entertainment (www.HITEntertainment.com). 2004. video, ISBN 1-57132-863-7: $12.99; DVD, ISBN 1-57132-866-1: $16.99.

PreS-Gr 1–The theme of this live stage show is “If you can imagine it, you can see it.” It follows Barney, Baby Bop, BJ and four of their young friends as they travel to magnificent places, sing songs, and dance, often asking for audience participation. It translates well to the small screen. Their first stop is The Great Green Jungle Adventure where they encounter an elephant and a monkey. After the Imagination Express Bus arrives to take Barney and friends on their adventures, they travel to the Bright White Land of Snow and Ice where they meet polar bears and penguins. Next, they go by boat to the warm sandy beach where they meet dogs and ducks and build a sandcastle. Finally, they travel Under the Deep Blue Sea where they discover a pirate’s chest, starfish Elvis, and a whale. Well known songs such as “If You’re Happy and You Know It,” “The Wheels on the Bus,” and “B-I-N-G-O,” promote audience participation, Fantastic, brightly colored sets and larger than life animals make the home audience feels as though they are in the arena. This enjoyable show deserves a spot in all collections for young children.
