Salem Press doesn’t just like library blogs—they love ’em. In an effort “to expose the little-known and excellent in an ongoing way,” the publisher has created the Library Blog Awards. The first wave of awards will focus on topical blogs that primarily address subjects such as technology, cataloging, literacy, and reviews. In the fall, Salem Press will award prizes to “local” blogs that are devoted to promoting a school, public, or academic library. The publisher also promises to “go beyond an annual celebration and related hoopla” by creating a Web site that keeps tabs on library blogs and provides updates on especially interesting thoughts and news. Nominations are open until May 15.
