Dodie Ownes -- School Library Journal, 02/03/2010

There’s a good reason why more than 350 school and public libraries have participated in the Great Scavenger Hunt Contest: it’s a blast! Created by YA author Kay Cassidy, the online program is a great way to encourage tweens and teens to read. And thanks to Cassidy’s generosity, the program is 100 percent free.

Here’s how the contest works: 150 YA and children’s authors have created a 10-question trivia test for their books that challenges students to dive into their books to find the answers. If readers answer eight out of 10 answers correctly, they’re eligible to win a $50 gift card, and their libraries can win a tote bag filled with the titles that were featured in the scavenger hunt.
