Get Your Students to Vote for their Favorite Author, Illustrator
By Rocco Staino -- School Library Journal, 03/17/2010
Who do kids think are the best authors and illustrators and what are some their favorite books? Find out in this year’s Children Choice Awards, sponsored by the Children’s Book Council.
Between now and May 3, your students can vote in bookstores, libraries, schools, and on BookWeekOnline.com for their favorites based on a list of finalists in six categories. The author and illustrator finalists are selected from a review of bestseller lists, and the favorite book finalists were determined by close to 15,000 children and teens.
This marks the third consecutive year that authors Jeff Kinney and Rick Riordon have made it into the favorite author finals, and it’s also a third time that Robin Preiss Glasser was selected for the illustrator category. Only authors and illustrators associated with books published in 2009 are considered.
The Children’s Choice Book Awards winners will be announced live at the Children’s Choice Book Awards gala on May 11 in New York City as part of Children’s Book Week, which takes place from May 10-16.
