Enter the Ypulse Totally Wired Teacher Contest
By SLJ Staff -- School Library Journal, 05/14/2010
Are you a totally wired teacher? Prove it by entering the Totally Wired Teacher Award contest, sponsored by Ypulse.com, a marketing firm that studies tweens and teens.
The contest is inspired by Ypulse.com founder Anastasia Goodstein’s book, Totally Wired: What Teens & Tweens Are Really Doing Online, who discovered the challenges that teachers had trying to integrate technology into the classroom. The goal is to recognize a teacher who’s overcome those challenges and who inspires students and other educators by the work she does.
Computer giant Dell’s will give this year’s Totally Wired teacher and one finalist an IT solution to use in their schools to help classes use the latest technology.
Entering is easy. Applicants must be a public school teacher or librarian in grades three to 12—and they can be nominated or self-nominated. Online applications are available and applicants can also submit a 60-second video via Vimeo explaining why they or their nominee is a “Totally Wired Teacher.”
The videos will be judged solely on content and not their production value. The person nominating or applying should be the only speaker on the video, and be careful not to include any students or minors in the clip.
Select videos may also be posted on the Dell Edu4U website. If choosing to submit a video, include a link to the video on Vimeo with the completed application.
Hurry. The deadline is May 17 at 5 pm PST, and winners will be notified by Ypulse and Dell by May 21, 2009.
