2009 Golden Kite Winners Unveiled

A biography of explorer-naturalist George Schaller, the tale of a curmudgeonly bear, and a wordless dream voyage picture book are among the winners of the 2009 Golden Kite Awards for excellence in children’s literature.
Sponsored by the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, winning authors and illustrators receive $2,500 and a trip to the award ceremony in Los Angeles on August 9.
The Golden Kite Award is the only award presented to children’s book authors and artists by their peers.
The following is a list of this year’s winners of books published during the 2008 calendar year.
