According to an April 28 report in The Guardian (originally reported by the AP), the famously private Harper Lee, author of her only published book To Kill a Mockingbird (1960), winner of the 1961 Pulitzer, has agreed to allow the book to be released as both an ebook and digital audiobook.

Lee said in a press statement released through her U.S. publisher HarperCollins:

“… I am amazed and humbled that Mockingbird has survived this long. This is Mockingbird for a new generation.”

The author just turned 88 on April 28.

To Kill a Mockingbird, first published in 1960 by J.B. Lippincott & Co., will be released as an ebook by HarperCollins July 8. The audiobook will be a downloadable edition of the existing CD.
