Ugh, it KILLS me that these books can't get decent movie adaptations! It's not like the text is over complicated, or all interior - the books are practically screenplays to begin with. And there are so many kids who love them. I feel like this is what happens when film makers treat a book merely as source material, and ignore what made the book popular to begin with. Thanks for taking the bullet on this one - now I know not to take my kids to see it. They'd be so disappointed.
