The public library is thriving in some locations. As an author, illustrator, and publisher, I use libraries during my travels. They offer free computers and wifi, inexpensive printers, educational programs, videos, and much more. All these things weren't a feature a 20 years ago. That's why I'm so amazed when I visit my hometown Branch Library in Kentucky. 2500 people in the town but a steady stream of users. Some visitors get a book, however most plug into technology. They may not have computer or internet services at home.

Libraries are needed in communities that don't have technology resources. Knowledge is power. Take away public knowledge and the power to learn is gone.

such a great initiative! hoping some of the stories will start being in the present tense... I'm not sure some people understand that libraries are still helping people today.
