The story became a shadow puppet show for the public library summer reading program somewhere in the late 90s or early 2000s. What a gentle, funny treasure, the cast of characters Waber created. Seemed like a winter version cast from Chicken Little, but a different kind of story. What kindness, what gentleness, what a funny funny story from the beloved Bernard Waber.
